We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty. It is the changes that we all go through our lives that constantly improve us, and with these words, I would like to wish you all a very pleasant evening.

On behalf of the management, staff and students of KVS English Medium school, I cordially welcome our Chief Guest, the other invited dignitaries and all parents to this occasion that is our School’s Annual Function.

 We at EMS believe that every individual has a lot of potential, and that potential can help accomplish wonders. That is why, it is fair to say that the future of the world starts here. The session of 2018-19 was a great year. There have been many changes at the school this year, in terms of high expectations, communication, behavioral management, professional development, technology, and above all, academics and I consider it a moment of pride to showcase to you all the achievements and development that the school, staff and students undertook.

Our Vision and Mission:

Vision determines directions of effort and prioritizing deployment of resources at our disposal, and our vision is to make our school one of the best schools of our country by providing 360 degree education to our students through best in class academic facilities and churn out citizens who are inspiring leaders with a humane touch.

Instant Recruitments:

A heart filled with aspirations is all that we knew since the very existence of the school and that’s what gives us the ambition of marching towards achieving a strength of 1383 students from 712 in the year of origin. We are really proud to say that the hardwork of the Principal and her 88 staff team have brought 256 new enrolments this year.

Yes, EMS dreamt of the success of the class X and XII board examination, they wished for it and at last they did it.

The results of the AISSE for the year 2018-19 of our school discloses the stunning feat of our school students. The bonafide work of the class X and XII students and the uphill battle of our committed staff brought laurels to the school. It is a jubilant moment for me to share the creditable accomplishment of the students.

The pass percentage of Class X and XII is 100% this year also.

Class X Board Examination:

Out of the 122 students appeared 33 students recorded marks above 450 and 43 students from 400 to 450.Master P.Gokul stands as the school topper with a total of 490 marks followed by A.U.Rishidharan with 483 marks and M. Anbuvel with 482 marks.

Master P.Gokul recorded centum marks in Maths and Science and Master B.Sree Nilan achieved centum marks in Maths.

Class XII Board Examination:

38 students appeared for the examination and out of it 7 students came out in flying colours by scoring above 450 and 11 students registered marks between 400 and 450.

Master K.Vishnu Raam is the school topper with 477 marks.  Master S. Bavithra Ganesh scored 476 marks and M. Saravanan scored 472 marks.

I take pride to mention that our first batch of students proved their mettle by getting placed in prestigious institutions for their higher studies.  The placement of students in reputed institutions decides the trademark of an institution and in this case I feel that EMS has achieved its goal.

It is an astounded victory for the school because out of the 38 children attending the examination 19 students were placed in esteemed institutions through councelling.

I am also glad to inform you all that K. VishnuRaam  is placed in Trichy Medical College, M. Saravanan in Tirunelveli Medical College and T. Sharon Paul has entered Madras Veterinary College.

  1. Jeya Ganesh who excelled in sports and yoga has been placed in Sri Krishna College of Technology, Coimbatore under sports quota.

All these would not have been feasible without the backing of our principal and teachers.

Facilities and its sustention:

Constant improvement is the key to success.

In this endeavour, we have introduced a few infrastructural and other developments:

As a new undertaking we took a giant leap by laying the foundation for a humongous auditorium cum indoor stadium with four entrances.  This would serve as one of the most useful building for the school.  This will be the awe-inspiring part of the school as it would include galleries that could accommodate 2000 people at a time, an elevator to reduce the burden of the children and dressing rooms to save pace.

Renovation work and fixing of tiles on walls and floor have been successfully completed for the ground floor.

To keep in pace with the steady increase in the strength of students separate urinals have been built for the kids of the school.

The conference hall in the first floor of the senior block has been given a majestic touch by interior works.

Keeping ourselves up with the stride of the modern world, digitization of the school was ventured by the addition of 2 televisions and CCTV cameras.

In order to ease the work of the office assistants and also the teachers, a xerox machine worth Rs. 1,29,000 has been purchased.

Hands on experience and learning practically will bring in better understanding of the concepts.  So every year the requirements of the labs will be satisfied.  This year too laboratory specimens, chemicals, apparatus and instruments were shopped for Rs. 2,23,885.

As there is a tremendous increase in the enrolment of the students in Higher Secondary classes new furniture with cupboards in them have been provided for classes XI and XII.

Old musical instruments have been repaired and replaced and other new  musical instruments have also been procured this year.

Silambam, an extra – curricular activity in our school is added up with some new things.

Parent Teacher Collaboration:

Parents can keep a real-time track of the status of their child for daily attendance through messages. 

Parents and teachers have been brought closer as the school provides an upload of the daily homework on the online portal parallel to what’s given in the classroom.

Parents and Teachers’ Meetings are held after the results of every examination to discuss the improvements made by the children.

Varied Prospects:

Apart from striving to attain exemplary academic standards, we at EMS, believe in grooming every facet of the student’s personality. So extra- curricular activities are involved along with the curriculum.

Sports and Games:

“Existence is not merely living, but living in vigor.”  Physical education not only fulfills this adage but also instills healthy contest, array, sportsmanship and team spirit into the students’ mind.  Our students explore plenty of opportunities to excel in sports and games  through the training given by the physical educators and coaches as well as making use of the playgrounds  in our school.

Facilitating the know - how:

Our students are given the chance to participate in various competitive exams like ICAS, Shakespeare Institute and Olympiad.  Many students have come out in distinction and have proved their creditable performances.

After school activities:

We aim to support parents where their children need out of school hours provision. So the students are offered with numerous after-school activities like yoga, karate, silambam, band music and instrumental playing.

Step ladders for refining English:

In this era of English, taking over all other languages, it is indeed very essential to improve the communication skill of the students.  So the Beehive communication club works in collaboration with our school and shares the duty of improving the spoken English of the children.

Language development programme, the Karadi path is given to the primary classes to give adequate practise in speaking English and also to focus on the pronunciation of the kiddies.

Productive Programmes:

The students of classes XI and XII are reinforced with the coaching for the fruitful results in JEE and NEET exams by the Reach Academy.  The IIT training is organised for students of classes VI to IX within our campus itself.  The productive programmes are sure to enhance their skill of overcoming the exam stress of the children.

Assembly Activities:

Assemblies are the essential part of schools, for they not only promote a sense of collective belonging to the school but they also educate the students in various ways. Best Assembly Trophies were awarded to the winning classes, along with the Best Class Awards.

Stimulating Steps:

Cleanliness and Discipline are the two eyes of a student. This could be inculcated only at the school level by the teachers.  So, the awards like Dutiful Disciplinarians and Classroom caretakers are given to the best classes and the Ultimate Contributor award has been announced for the teacher who is unique in motivating the children in these aspects.

As part of our efforts to inculcate in students the appreciation of and respect for India’s rich heritage and diversity, and also to reinforce in them national pride and respect for all, the school coordinated    a plethora of activities and jubilations were coordinated throughout the year which paved way for the achievement of our goals and expectations.

 Our school celebrated its 7th Annual day on 18th November 2018.  The fiesta aimed to bring together the winners on the academic side and the lovers of dance, drama and music and showcase their talents amidst the parents. Mr D.R. Balan, B.A., and his better half  Mrs Geetha Balan, B.A., had been invited as the chief guests.  The guests of honour were superlative in their appreciation of the students, teachers and the management for the classic programmes presented.

Karthigai deepam is  known for the display of lights. The staff and students at EMS lit up the campus with oil lamps and offered prayers to the Goddess of prosperity, for the welfare of all the students.

EMSians bid farewell to the year 2018 and showed their welcoming note to the year 2019 with great pomp and show.  The day was exciting as there were many thought provoking messages and greetings in a cheerful atmosphere.

Pongal, the harvest festival, was celebrated in twin with the Thiruvalluvar day in our school on 11th January.  The children decorated their thresholds with colourful kolams and prepared the sweet dish Pongal along with their teachers.  The students who had won in the competitions held on behalf of the S.V. Paramanandam – Rajasoundari memorial trust were honoured with prizes during the function.

EMS celebrated Republic day on January 26 in its school premises.  All the students, Management committee and staff members were present. It was a meaningful gathering as it is a memorable day for every Indian on earth. Hoisting of the national flag and varied programmes were organised.

EMS organized a flag hosting ceremony on August 15 for the Independence day celebration.  The air was filled with patriotic feelings when the tricolor flag went up atop the pole.  All the students saluted with reverence and pride and sing the national anthem.

The school organized its 8th Annual Sports Meet on 25th August 2019.  Mr S.M.S. Natarajan and his better half Mrs Vani Natarajan were the Guests of Honour on the occasion.  The programme was inaugurated by releasing the dove and lighting the Olympic Torch.  Several track and field events, drills and cultural events were conducted in which the students participated with great enthusiasm.

The students of EMS, on Teachers’ day felicitated their teachers for their dedication and sacrifice in bringing them up.  They also entertained their staff with songs, dances and other shows.

Healthy body houses a healthy and progressive mind.  So it is the responsibility of our school to maintain the health of the students.  Therefore an eye check -up was accomplished by a team of doctors and nurses on October 16, 2019.

EMS hosted the installation ceremony of the new student office bearers of the Interact club under the aegis of Rotary club. The new appointees were invested with the pins by the renowned guests. The new board took the oath administered by Rotarians.

EMS celebrated family day where in various activities were organized for the tiny tots of classes 1 and 2 and also their parents to realize and perceive the value of family in their lives.

Few days before the classes X and XII board examinations could commence, the students were taken to the Pillaiyar temple in our campus and special prayers were offered.  This enable our students to overcome their stress, confusion and tiredness and come out in flying colours in the public examination.

The students competed the staff in the friendly 10 over cricket match played in the playground of EMS. The match brought in excitement and enthusiasm among the spectators.

National Mathematics Day now known as GANIT was celebrated in our school on the birth anniversary of the great mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. On that occasion, several competitions like poem writing and puzzle solving were organized.

The investiture ceremony to honour the prefectorial body was formulated in EMS on 30th July.  The baton of responsibility was passed on to a  fresh round of chancellor and vice chancellor and prefects for the year. They received their badges and took the oath devoting themselves to the well-being of their institution.

The National Science day was celebrated successfully on 28th February in rememberance of Sir C.V.Raman.  The day threw light on the significance of Science in our everyday life .  Many programmes related to science were brought in front of the students to stimulate their scientific temper.

Brainy Fest is held every year in our school to applaud the latent talents of the students who have won in the intra school competitions. This year it commenced in the presence of our office bearers and parents.  The winners of the intra school competitions and students and staff having full attendance were dignified.  The kiddies of the school entertained the audience with their exemplary splash of skills.

KVS EMS hosted the “World’s Largest Vocabulary Lesson” that tried to earn the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title.  More than 4,000 children and teachers participated in the lesson simultaneously, learning the words selected. The largest Body language session held on the same day also initiated the ecstasy in the students and refined their skills.

 EMS felt proud as it had the opportunity to show our gratitude to the Indian Army who cheerfully and selflessly sacrificed their lives for their country and countrymen.

Our school successfully organized and hosted Impulse’19, the inter-school gala for promoting a harmonious and healthy relationship among schools.  It was kick started by Mr R.T.R. Vanni Anandham, B.A.,and provided a juncture for all students in and around our district to try a panorama of different on stage and off stage contests.

The International Yoga Day as proposed by the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi was celebrated in our school on 21st June 2019.The flexible dolls of our school manifested the diverse styles of yoga and startled the viewers.

In order to encourage the prolific and productive ideas of our students, the Edu Expo was organised. The function was presided over by Dr K.Nagarajan, Associate Professor in VHNSN College, Virudhunagar. The students incarnated their talents in subjects like Science, Social Science, Mathematics, English and Tamil. The day concluded with the distribution of prizes for the winners in each level.

On King maker K.Kamaraj’s birthday known as Kalvi Valarchi Naal, the premier personality Mr A.Shyam Raaj, the Managing Director of Beehive Communication club gave an inspiring speech to the children quoting examples from Kamaraj’s life.     On the occasion of Kargil Victory Day, the staff and students of EMS paid their fervent adoration to the stout-hearted army men of our country.

EMS also hosted the Hub Talentia’19 the inter school competitions for the hub schools.  Children of five schools engaged themselves in different competitions and won accolades.

Vitalizing voyages:

 Catering to the ideals of holistic learning, students were exposed to different environments in the form of excursions.

The students of classes I and II went on a pleasure trek to Madurai and had a fun filled experience.

The tour of classes III to V to Monkey falls and Aliyar dam gave a rich experience to them.  The students enjoyed to the core.

Classes VIII and IX had an amazing experience in their trip to Trivandrum. The most splendid aspects of the visit were the Kovalam beach, Magic Planet and ISRO.

Students of classes VI and VII participated in two days programme to Suruli, Thekadi and Moonar. Students enjoyed the safari trip in Moonar and witnessed a number of flora and fauna. The highlight of the trip was the sighting of a herd of elephants which thrilled the students beyond measure.

The seniors of EMS – the students of classes X, XI and XII went on an educational trip to Mumbai on the month of September.  The group of students were excited to explore the new havens of magnificent forts and palaces there. They also paid reverence to Lord Ganesha in the splendid Siddi Vinayagar temple.

“Soon out of sight but never out of mind”. With a heavy heart, EMS bid adieu to its first batch of students by celebrating the day with zest and enthusiasm, making it the most memorable one.

Apart from commemorating victories in academics, the EMSians have proved themselves in various other fields also.

By providing a conducive and encouraging environment, the students are mentored to participate in    a variety of intra and inter school activities/competitions. It enables the students to grow in confidence, knowledge and enhance their skill.

I am privileged to reveal that our student Gokul of class X has come out with flying colours in the second level of NTSE.

In the Kamaraj Birthday quiz competitions held on July 8 by K.V.S. Old Boys Association, T.Sai Kavin and B.Vetri secured the first place in the 3 to 5 level and V.S. Vijay Aravinth and M. Sudharshan won the first place in the 11 and 12 category and brought laurels to the school.

In the same month, A.U. Sarath of class IX and R.Rajesh Krishnan of class X swept the first place in the A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorial Quiz held in Sri Saradha Sakthi Matric. Higher Secondary School.  S.Ram Bala Ganesh and M.P.S.Guhan of class XII also bagged the first prize in that quiz.

25 students from our school participated in the SESS – 2018  a science exhibition held at M.K.R. Ayya Nadar Jeyalakshmi Ammal English Medium School, Madurai.  The purpose of the contest was to provide the students of all levels with a realistic, engaging introduction to the different branches of biology.  Our students bagged most of the prizes.

The students of EMS  in the Aarohanam CBSE Interschool competition conducted by the Madurai Sahodhaya Schools and accomplished themselves with prizes.

Our students partook in the Hub Talentia conducted on 31st October among the CBSE hub schools and won many accolades.

The accolades brought by our students in the field of sports and games are numerous. 

In the Inter School competition held at R.J .Mantra English School and in the J.C.I Music Yoga competition held at Sri Ambal Ramasamy Mahal, many students of our school participated and grabbed prizes.

Many students participated in the Virudhunagar District Yoga competition and out of them P. Naveen of class IV, A.Ashwin of class VI, M.Hariharan of class VIII and  M.Balavelan  of class XI were selected for the State level competition and are going to represent our state in the 44th National Level Yoga competition that is to be held at Kanpur from December 25 to 29.

Ten students participated in the 6th Inter State Yoga competition 2019.  The champion of champions title was achieved by S. Jeya Rahul of class VII for the Junior category and A.Ashwin of class VIII for the Senior category.

Madurai Sahodaya School Complex conducted swimming competitions  in Velammal Bodi Campus and many of our students brought laurels to the school by procuring prizes at all levels.

The silambam team of our EMS  won the South Zone Silambam Championship 2019 held at Karaikudi. 

J.Anandha Kumar, G.Mithun Kumar and A.Prakash Kumar of class X raveled in the First Tamil Nadu State level Federation Cup that took place in Madurai and accomplished themselves by winning the first place.

A.Kankesh Raj of class X reaped the second place in the South India Silambam Championship held at Madurai.

S.Shai Prajan of class IX, M. Mukesh of class V, S. Shasreek of class IV, S. Gokulnathan of class XI and S.Shai Sujith of class VII rolicked  in the 1st Shinjidi Cup Invitational Karate and Kobudo and brought credit to the school.

R.Samuvel Rex came out successfully as a runner up in the Virudhunagar District Badminton Championship and have proved himself.

K.Rajagopalan has come first in long jump at the Virudhunagar District Level held last week.

Rotary Elite’s Talent Show is a heavy competition, orgainsed annually by Rotary Elite Club of Virudhunagar. This year also EMS adopted creative and innovative techniques and proved their skills and talents among the various schools and swept the first place.

In the CBSE South Zone YOGA Competition 2019 held at Shivaani Vidhya Mandir, Aranthangi from 22nd to 25th of this month, M. Bala Velan of Class XI,  A. Ashwin of Class VIII, S. Jeya Rahul of Class VII, P. Naven of Class IV and M. HariHaran of Class VIII as a team under 19 came second and are selected for the CBSE National YOGA Championship 2019 that is going to be held at Sangamner, Maharastra.

Educational Entrenchment for Educators:

A team of five teachers attended a two day workshop on Classroom Management organized at Om Sadhana Central School, Madurai.

On 20th November 2018, two teachers from our school involved themselves in the CBSE Prospective Resource Persons Orientation Programme on Value Education conducted at Harvest International School, Bangalore.

The teachers of Social Science embellished themselves by attending a seminar on “Competence Building in Secondary Social Science” that took place at Unity Public School, Chennai on 28th and 29th of November 2018.

An orientation programme on Health and Physical Education was conducted at Shri Gurumuki Vidhyashram School, Dindigul on December 9.  Many staff from our school were benefitted by this programme.

On January 5, 2019 five teachers were gained by the workshop on “Remodeled structure of Assessment of secondary classes” held at Paavai Vidhyashram Senior Secondary School, Namakkal.  The emphasis of the workshop was on the new assessment methods to be followed as per the change in the CBSE exam.

English language is a vital one in today’s scenario.  So the teachers of the Primary classes were engaged in a workshop on “English Language Improvement” at Om Sadhana Central School, Madurai. The need to develop strong communication skills in students was talked about in the programme.

Competence building in Mathematics for classes X and XII was given importance through workshops at Chinmaya Vidhyalaya, Chennai and Pushpalatha Vidhya Mandhir, Trinelveli.  The teachers of Mathematics participated in it and learnt new methodologies to build competence in Maths.

A capacity building workshop was organized by the school board for all the teachers in this month.  Mr B.Aathi Narayanan, the resource person laid emphasis on effective classroom management. Special emphasis was on teachers developing counselling skills and developing effective ways to manage their own emotions and stress.

We are drowning in information and severely starving for wisdom today. Fortunately, we are empowered with demographic dividend knocking on our door. We just need to break the cocoon and let in the beautiful colours of knowledge. I am sure in the coming years, we shall successfully channelize the halo of the young minds to explore best of their abilities.

Towards the end, I thank the supportive management whose continuous support to our ideology of education has enabled the school to come this far. The entire staff members also deserve applause for their tireless efforts in implementing the route map of imparting quality education here. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to the parents of our students who have shown unflinching faith in us by giving us the profound opportunity to transform their children into truly useful citizens of the future world.

With this, let us foresee a world of universal singularity where our children are going to be the propellant of this change and the world shall be a beautiful place to live in..!!!
